Here are three legislative updates that could affect your surgery center:
North Carolina is considering legislation that would allow single-specialty ASCs to become multispecialty centers without certificate-of-need review.
The Minnesota Hospital Association is accusing Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota of breaking the law through policies that limit access to colonoscopies and other services in hospitals in favor of having them in lower-cost settings, like ASCs. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said his office will "dig into" the association's concerns.
A Florida law permitting ASCs to keep patients for up to 24 hours was passed June 25. Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed HB 843 into law following years of debate.
