The Hutchinson (Kan.) Clinic has received "numerous phone calls from grateful parents" since it began transporting young patients to the operating room in a toy Lamborghini, ASC Director Karie Bradley told The Hutchinson News.
What you should know:
1. The battery-operated Lamborghini has been in use for a few weeks. It was introduced to help drastically ease children's anxiety levels before surgery.
2. ASC charge nurse Tiffany Antonio said the car "really reduces the fear the kids go through and reduces parent anxiety when they see their child having fun while heading back to the operating room."
3. Jet AirWerks and Hutchinson Clinic are collaborating to bring in a larger car that can hold up to 120 pounds, because the current car's weight limit is 66 pounds.
