The FBI worked with Mississippi state and federal agencies to conduct several raids throughout the state, including one pharmacy in Jackson, in a healthcare fraud investigation, according to WAPT News.
Here are six things to know:
1. The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics initiated the healthcare fraud investigation.
2. The compound pharmacy investigation has nine warrants in Mississippi, one in Alabama, one in Utah and one in Florida.
3. Agents were seen seizing boxes out of the Optus pharmacy at the Jackson Medical Mail, and other raids ensued at Rx Remedies and Medworx Compounding in Ridgeland and Aspire Health Compounding in Jackson.
4. Federal investigators interviewed hundreds of people and have seized money from 80 banks accounts. The FBI also has seized five planes and two boats.
5. According to an FBI official, the raids were court authorized.
6. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Department of Defense Criminal Investigation Service also participated in the investigation.
