ASC company AmSurg has officially announced its separation from Envision Healthcare following its bankruptcy filing. In the wake of the reshuffling, Envision's president and CEO, Jim Rechtin, has announced his intentions to leave the company and take over leadership of nationwide payer Humana, according to an Oct. 11 report from Biz Journal.
Mr. Rechtin will take over as Humana's president and COO, effective Jan. 8. In the latter half of the year, Humana's current CEO, Bruce Broussard, plans to retire, at which point Mr. Rechtin will step into the role.
Envision has been facing financial challenges since 2016, eventually filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy, which allowed it to wipe out $5.6 million in debt. Mr. Rechtin has led Envision since 2020.
"Envision wishes Jim all the best in his new role. As we complete our restructuring and prepare to emerge in a position to grow, the board thanks Jim for his leadership," an Envision spokesperson told Biz Journal. "Envision’s board will work closely with Jim to ensure a seamless transition to a new executive leader. High quality patient care and the clinicians who provide it will continue to be our top priority through this transition."
