Level EX launches virtual surgery mobile app for physicians
The technology startup Level EX has launched a virtual surgery mobile app, called Airway EX, which the company hopes physicians will use to practice their surgical skills. The company says Airway EX provides a realistic environment for physicians to hone their skills in minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Hillary Clinton spells out 4-point plan on healthcare in NEJM; Donald Trump doesn't respond
Ms. Clinton would keep the Affordable Care Act intact, as she sees the legislation as "an essential step toward universal healthcare." She would expand Medicaid coverage in states that previously elected not to expand Medicaid and deliver tax credits to make health coverage more affordable. She would also include the public option in every state and allow Americans to "buy into Medicare" when they are 55 years old.

Global market for gastrointestinal drugs to reach $48.4B by 2022
The global gastrointestinal drugs market will continue to grow through 2022. The global market for gastrointestinal drugs reached $35.7 billion in 2015. The market is expected to reach $48.4 billion by 2022, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 4.45 percent.

FDA requiring direct-acting antiviral manufacturers to put 'black box' warnings on labels
The FDA is requiring manufacturers to put 'black box' warnings on labels of direct-acting antiviral prescriptions because of the possibility that the drugs cause the hepatitis B virus to resurface. The FDA has received 24 reports of HBV reactivating between Nov. 22, 2013 to July 18, 2016. After starting therapy with the drugs, physicians reported reactivations four to eight weeks later.

UnitedHealth faces lawsuit over prescription drug co-payments
Three customers are suing UnitedHealth for allegedly charging prescription drug co-payments that exceed their actual costs. The plaintiffs aim to represent a nationwide class that may comprise tens of thousands of UnitedHealth customers. In the suit, the three customers say UnitedHealth pocketed the difference between the co-payments and the drugs' actual cost.

AMA launches online tools to ease MACRA transition
The American Medical Association launched various online tools to aid physicians' transition to the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015.

Healthmark Industries' launches multi-purpose labels
Healthmark Industries introduced a new multi-purpose equipment label to its labeling line. Healthmark developed the labels to ensure consistency, and to identify medical equipment that was either clean, in-use or dirty. The label is two inches by three inches, and has an adhesive backing.
