Bill Prentice, the CEO of the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, shared his thoughts and insights on the new Leapfrog outpatient reporting program in a Q&A on ASCA Connect.
Here are the insights Mr. Prentice shared:
1. What does ASCA think about the Leapfrog survey? Mr. Prentice said Leapfrog reached out the ASCA to discuss developing an outpatient quality reporting program. Mr. Prentice feels transparent data about ASCs and hospital outpatient department outcomes and quality is a good thing, and the ASCA plans to remain engaged with Leapfrog throughout the evaluation process.
2. Who developed the questions for the survey? Leapfrog assembled a panel of six healthcare professionals who are familiar with specialties involving care in the outpatient setting. Mr. Prentice said Leapfrog made changes based on ASCA's suggestions.
3. Should ASCs participate in the 2019 survey? While participation in the survey is completely voluntary, Mr. Prentice said its important for ASCs to show the value and quality surgery centers provide.
