Survey: Billing Impacts Patients' Opinion of Overall Quality of Care

TransUnion Healthcare conducted a survey of insured patients and discovered a correlation between positive billing experience and higher reported overall care, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Positive billing experiences give patients positive view of overall careThe survey showed 70 percent of patients who had positive experiences with billing and payments also highly rated the quality of care received, compared to 24 percent who gave low ratings to quality of care, according to the report.

Survey respondents said clarity of costs and billing factor heavily into selecting a provider. Clear information on out-of-pocket costs prior to treatment would positively impact 67 percent of patient's decision to use a provider.
