The prices of common outpatient and inpatient procedures at every Oregon hospital are now available online, KTVZ.com reports.
Here's what you should know:
1. The Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems published cost data for common inpatient and outpatient procedures on OregonHospitalGuide.org.
2. Based on state reporting, the pricing data shows the median amount commercial insurers pay, as well as patient deductibles and co-pays. It lists the state's median price for each procedure.
3. The website allows patients to search procedure costs by hospital and compare hospitals on average length of stay, average daily census, occupancy rate, surgery mix and full-time equivalents per adjusted occupied bed. Patients can also find federal quality care data and billing and financial assistance policies.
4. Oregon Hospital Guide's website helped the state receive a "B" grade on the Altarum's Center for Payment Innovation's Price Transparency and Physician Quality Report Card.
"Hospitals are leading the way in our state to ensure that Oregonians have the tools to make informed healthcare decisions — including cost factors," said OAHHS Executive Vice President Andy Van Pelt. "We are proud that our work on price transparency continues to keep Oregon in the forefront of this issue nationwide."
