Indiana surgery center agrees to stop participating in Medicare — 5 insights

Franklin, Ind.-based South Central Surgery Center agreed to stop participating in Medicare.

Here's what you should know:

1. South Central Surgery Center owner, medical director and administrator Herbert Mann, MD, notified CMS of the center's decision May 13.

2. CMS terminated its agreement with the center and will no longer provide payment for covered services.

3. South Central Surgery Center opened in January 2001.

4. The multispecialty ASC has two operating rooms and one treatment room.

5. The center has 12 surgeons on staff.
