Hillary Clinton's "Medicare for More" plan would expand coverage to more people, but it may also increase costs for those on the Affordable Care Act exchanges, according to CNBC.
Here are five considerations:
1. Under Ms. Clinton's plan, about 13 million Americans between the ages of 50 and 64 would be able to receive coverage under the expanded Medicare program.
2. However, some of these Americans may also face higher costs if buying into the new coverage plan.
3. Those consumers with ACA plans who choose to buy into the expanded Medicare program may also see fewer benefits in their new plans.
4. The higher costs and fewer benefits are a result of the odd structure of the Medicare fee-for-service program.
5. Medicare includes a 20 percent charge on the total cost of services, like appointments and lab tests.
