The Government Accountability Office released statistics on how the Medicaid electronic health record incentive payments were distributed in 2011, with the average hospital payment at about $600,000, according to Healthcare Finance News.
The Dec. 13 report showed hospitals received between $7,528 and $7.2 million. Total Medicaid EHR payments for nearly 2,000 hospitals and 46,000 professionals reached $2.7 billion.
About 46 percent of hospitals were located in the South and only 15 percent were in the Northeast. Eighty percent were acute care hospitals. Of the professionals receiving incentive payments, 83 percent were located in urban areas.
