State officials have announced that the contract for the California health insurance exchange eligibility and enrollment system will go to Accenture, for $359 million, according to a Live Insurance News report.
The company is expected to have the system up and running by late 2013. The system will allow residents of the state and small businesses to purchase medical coverage and determine whether they can obtain federal healthcare subsidies.
The California Health Benefit Exchange intends to begin enrollment on Oct. 1, 2013. The enrollment would enlist patients in coverage that would become effective in January 2014.
