Are EHRs ready?
• EHR will or did need an upgrade: 78.1 percent
• EHR will or did need to be replaced: 3.7 percent
• EHR will be replaced or upgraded, but physicians are unsure which: 4.8 percent
• EHR does not need to be upgraded or replaced: 8 percent
• Physicians do not know: 5.4 percent
Does the EHR vendor cover the cost of upgrade or replacement?
• Yes: 50.7 percent
• No: 36.5 percent
• Do not know: 12.8 percent
For physician practices that will shoulder the cost of replacement or upgrade, the average cost per FTE physician is $12,885.
