Fewer employers than predicted pushed their employees to Affordable Care Act plans, according to The Washington Times.
Here are five insights:
1. Only 13 million people signed up for coverage through Affordable Care Act's exchanges, a much lower number than expected.
2. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, the number will only reach about 14.7 million people in the coming years.
3. Employers didn't cut off the 6 million employees from coverage as anticipated, which would have forced them to seek plans through the ACA.
4. If every state matched the enrollment rate of the top 10 performing states, the total enrollment could reach 16.3 million, according to Kaiser.
5. Some consumers believe the plans on the exchanges are still too costly, which also contributed to the lower enrollment.
