A 2016 HealthLeaders Media Value-Based Readiness Survey found 94 percent of respondents are on a path for some form of value-based care.
Here are eight statistics:
1. Thirty-five percent of providers reported participating in early efforts or pilot programs for value-based care.
2. Similarly, 35 percent of respondents said they are moving in a "value-based direction," and 24 percent reported falling somewhere in the middle.
3. Six percent of respondents reported they are not pursuing value-based care at this time.
4. Twenty-three percent said the slow transition to value-based care is due to insufficient payer incentives, while 15 percent attributed this gradual transition to the revenue stream process.
5. More than half (55 percent) of respondents said their organization was very strong or somewhat strong in preparing for value-based care delivery changes, compared to 46 percent saying their organization rated as weak or very weak.
6. In regard to their preparation for value-based infrastructure, 50 percent reported a positive level of strength.
7. Seventy-three percent of respondents reported their organization has committed to developing value-based performance metrics, while 65 percent said their organization has developed collaborative relationships with payers.
8. Eighty-seven percent of respondents said in-office visits are a strongly effective or moderately effective communication method for patients to achieve self-management that improves value-based outcomes.
