Kaiser Family Foundation examined data for premiums using the lowest-cost premium for the bronze, silver and gold tiered plans in each state as well as the second lowest cost silver benchmark for patients who were 40 years old in each county. The data was weighted by county plan selections and accessed November 2017.
The data shows the following 15 states had the highest percentage of change in the healthcare marketplace premiums from 2017 to 2018:
1. Iowa: 88 percent
2. New Hampshire: 78 percent
3. Utah: 78 percent
4. Wyoming: 72 percent
5. Virginia: 66 percent
6. Mississippi: 58 percent
7. Tennessee: 58 percent
8. Wisconsin: 54 percent
9. Maine: 53 percent
10. Maryland: 53 percent
11. New Mexico: 52 percent
12. Nebraska: 51 percent
13. Kentucky: 46 percent
14. Pennsylvania: 45 percent
15. Georgia: 44 percent
