Physicians Endoscopy partners with Joint Commission, CDC on infection prevention project: 5 key notes

The Joint Commission, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Physicians Endoscopy are collaborating on an ambulatory infection prevention project.

Here are five key notes on the project:

1. The Adaptation and Dissemination Outpatient Infection PrevenTion Guidance project focuses on free-standing ambulatory settings and services to improve infection prevention. The project will help providers adapt, enhance and disseminate CDC guidance for infection prevention and control in ambulatory healthcare settings.

2. The effort is supported through a CDC contract and will create a model infection control plan. The collaboration will then work to expand the plan’s reach, uptake and adoption of infection prevention and control guidance materials.

3. There are 12 outpatient-focused organizations and 10 ambulatory healthcare systems participating, including Physicians Endoscopy.

4. Physicians Endoscopy will provide information about current infection prevention guidance and materials as well as input into the new adapted model infection control plans.

5. Physicians Endoscopy was formed in July 1998 and focuses on developing and managing freestanding, single-specialty endoscopic ASCs. The group partners with physicians and hospitals on the centers.
