Credentialing Tip: Assign a Coordinator

When it comes to improving credentialing, the fundamentals of compliance include appointing someone to oversee the credentialing program.

According to Marcy Sasso, founder of Sasso Consulting, this person must know the ins and outs of credentialing policies, bylaws, state and ASC accrediting and credentialing protocols and the subsequent procedures to follow up on each.

Having a credentialing coordinator helps ensure credentialing does not fall through the cracks; it is the most commonly overlooked item during accreditation and reaccreditation.
