CMS Accepts Parkland Memorial's Correction Action Plan

CMS has accepted a corrective action plan by Dallas' Parkland Memorial Hospital after an inspection uncovered several infection control and other violations, according to a Republic report.

The Texas Department of State Health Services performed the inspection at the request of CMS after a patient death at the hospital in February, which the hospital did not report to state and federal authorities as required.

Earlier this week, the hospital submitted a corrective action plan to address the violations, which includes extensive training and education, hiring additional nurses and other policy changes. Now that CMS has accepted that plan, the Texas Department of State Health

Services will perform a second inspection at the hospital.

The hospital has until Sept. 2 to reach compliance or risk losing its Medicare eligibility.
