The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care is teaming up with the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology to host an infection prevention program, "How Safe Are Your Safe Practices?"
Here are five notes:
1. On December 4, APIC and AAHC will host the Ask the APIC Expert infection program in Las Vegas.
2. Marcia Patrick, RN, CIC, will lead the program. Ms. Patrick has acquired more than 30 years of infection control experience in the acute care, ambulatory and community hospital settings.
3. During the presentation, she will highlight the following topics:
• Conducting a risk assessment
• Safe injection practices
• Disinfection and sterilization
• Environmental cleaning
• Sharps injury prevention
• Disease transmission
4. During the program, attendees will receive various sample worksheets, reference tools and forms to help implement an infection control program, or evaluate their current infection control program.
5. Since its inception in 1979, the AAAHC has accredited more than 6,000 U.S. healthcare organizations.
