La Lima Medical Center in San Pedro Sula, Honduras was the first center in the region to earn accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
Here's what you need to know.
1. AAAHC's global branch, Acreditas Global awarded the accreditation.
2. La Lima is an 80-bed general hospital and outpatient diagnostic center. It offers CT and ultrasound technology. The center also has a 40-suite medical office building.
3. The center was recognized for its excellence through the Seafarer Medical Examination Program.
4. To earn accreditation through Acreditas, the center had to self-evaluate, go through a peer review process and then have a series of educational classes. The center was also surveyed by Acreditas surveyors.
