AAAASF participates in summit on innovation: 3 thoughts

President-elect of the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities David Watts, MD, was a panel moderator and gave the closing keynote address at the first VoyagerMed Medical Innovation Summit on Sept. 23. Here's what you need to know.

1. The Summit focused on medical innovation.

2. Dr. Watts spoke on medical tourism. The two major things to focus on are inflow and outflow.

"People come to the U.S. for quality healthcare services, technology and access," he said. "People leave the U.S. for cost-saving care and luxury recovery options."

3. AAAASF and VoyageMed partnered because of their reliance on metrics-based performance data.
