Study: Anesthesia Event Reporting System Increased Events Captured Almost Two-Fold

A secure clinical event reporting system linked to an anesthesia information management system captured almost twice the number of adverse events as usual, according to a study published in Anesthesia & Analgesia.

The authors tested a secure, electronic, mandatory system for reporting quality assurance data linked to an electronic anesthesia record. After implementation, the number of events captured increased by 92 percent, and this increase was maintained for the initial 12 months after implementation.
