Jackson, Mich.-based MiraMed Global Services raised more than $75,000 through its Circle of Warmth campaign in collaboration with the nonprofit organization The Empowerment Plan.
Three highlights:
1. The money is being used to purchase more than 600 coats for the homeless.
2. The Empowerment Plan's EMPWR Coat can also be used as a sleeping bag or an over-the-shoulder bag.
3. MiraMed provided more than 300 coats to local organizations including the Jackson Interfaith Shelter, Region 2 Area on Aging, Volunteers of America, Community Action Agency and Do'chas.
MiraMed CEO Tony Mira said he and his wife "felt compelled to do what we could to help stop the cycle of homelessness by pulling together all of our great staff and associates to make difference. With offices throughout the U.S., we really liked the fact that we could earmark the donations. Our clients, staff and vendors were able to choose the location of their donations to help those where they live and work."
