As the landscape of American healthcare continues to evolve, the Association for Independent Medicine (AIM) is at the forefront, championing the autonomy, innovation, and resilience of independent practices. In 2025, AIM is poised to achieve new milestones, fostering collaboration, advocating for change, and growing its membership like never before.
Independent practices are the bedrock of personalized patient care. Yet, they face mounting challenges—from regulatory and reimbursement hurdles to increasing pressure from hospital consolidation. AIM’s mission is clear: to empower these practices with the tools, resources, and advocacy they need to thrive in this complex environment.
This year, AIM has expanded its collaborative efforts, forging partnerships with influential organizations and other specialty practices. These alliances amplify our collective voice in advocating for policy reforms that prioritize patient-centered care, fair reimbursement models, and innovative solutions to practice management. Together, we have championed federal legislation that protects independent practices from predatory private equity firms and contract terminations and secured funding to invest in further association development.
AIM’s growth in membership has been remarkable. In 2024, our ranks increased by 40%, reflecting a widespread desire among healthcare providers to reclaim autonomy and align with like-minded peers. In 2025, we’re doubling down on outreach -- ensuring the next generation of clinicians is equipped to
navigate and shape the future of independent medicine.
The road ahead is challenging but promising. As healthcare trends shift toward outpatient care, value-based models, and patient empowerment, independent practices have a unique opportunity to lead the charge. AIM will remain steadfast in its mission to ensure these practices not only survive but
thrive in 2025 and beyond.
