North American Partners in Anesthesia announced that its regional director, Michael B. Simon, MD, has been appointed president of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists.
Dr. Simon, who also serves as the chief of cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., was voted president-elect of the NYSSA in December 2011 and began his new role as president Dec. 16, 2012. As president, he will oversee the NYSSA and continue to partner with the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
The former president was Salvatore G. Vitale, MD, a NAPA anesthesiologist and director of cardiac anesthesia at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y.
