The American Society of Anesthesiologists continues to receive reports of concerns related to claims submitted under the 5010 transactions standard, according to an ASA release.
The concerns include "a requirement for additional narrative information when a CPT code descriptor includes the phrase 'not otherwise specified'" and "confusion about whether the surgical CPT code is a required element in claims for anesthesia services."
The ASA is working to resolve these matters and will continue to post additional information as it becomes available.
