Anesthesiologist Bill Hauter, MD, is running for the 87th Illinois House District, the State Journal-Register reported May 20.
Dr. Hauter, who works for Peoria, Ill.-base OSF Healthcare, is certified in both emergency medicine and anesthesiology.
To address soaring healthcare costs, Dr. Hauter told the Journal Register he plans to focus on the expansion of health savings accounts and cost transparency.
