Anesthesiologist Dr. Edward Lin Invents Device to Improve Complex Chronic Wound Care

Edward Lin, MD, an anesthesiologist-turned-entrepreneur from Sarasota, Fla., has invented a device that could drastically improve complex chronic wound care, according to a Gulf Coast Business Review report.

Dr. Lin is chairman and CEO of Sarasota-based HealO Medical. The device, named the O-ACE-Sys, combines a disposable transparent chamber, about the size of an oxygen mask, with a pump that delivers medication to the wound.

Dr. Lin projects $8 million in annual sales in the U.S. by 2016 and nearly $50 million by 2017. Dr. Lin earned his MD from the Yale School of Medicine and ran the anesthesiology department at an Ohio Hospital until he gave up practicing medicine in the 1990s.
