The anesthesiology residency training program at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York switched from paper to plastic this past July, reallocating the textbook allowance in favor of purchasing Apple iPads, according to an Anesthesiology News report.
With the new iPads, residents can access electronic medical records and an entire library of e-textbooks, medical journals and guidelines at the point of care, according to Adam Levine, MD, director of the training program.
The device can assist anesthesiology residents at every stage of the perioperative process, and residents can use the devices for education and patient care, according to the report.
