The Surgery Center of Fairbanks in Alaska is the recipient of the second-quarter best practice award from supply chain s company Inventory Optimization Solutions.
The Surgery Center of Fairbanks was recognized for its supply chain organization and cost- reducing efforts, including addressing overstocked inventory, inaccurate prices and items with unassigned locations.
"We tackled a number of challenges related to unit of measure, set up our systems to ensure accurate pricing, worked to improve the layout and labeling of our physical locations and identification of items on shelves — and today our team works collaboratively to quickly identify and manage any supply chain issues in a proactive manner," said Jamie Conant, BSN, RN, the surgery center's administrator. a
The center opened in 2010 and has 26 staff physicians who specialize in orthopedics, ophthalmology, pain management and general surgery.
