Texas Ex-Couple Sentenced for Defrauding Medicaid

Alicia Narvaez and Edgar Narvaez, a former husband and wife living in Texas, were sentenced to time in federal prison and ordered to pay restitution for defrauding more than $400,000 from programs funded by Medicaid and the Social Security Administration, according to a report by San Antonio Express-New.

The former couple operated the Narvaez Family Provider Services. Their company falsified client records, forged physician certifications and billed the Texas Department of Aging and Disabled Services for care that was never provided from Jan. 2004 to Aug. 2006, according to the report.

Mrs. Narvaez and Mr. Narvaez are sentenced to five and two and a half years in prison, respectively.
