The Office of the Inspector General submitted a report to Congress that includes summaries of its activities over a six-month period as well as a summary of its accomplishments for fiscal year 2010.
Highlights of the report summarizing FY 2010 activities include the following:
• The OIG reported expected recoveries and estimated savings of approximately $25.9 billion.
• Of the $25.9 billion, approximately $1.1 billion consisted of audit receivables, $3.8 billion consisted of investigative receivables and $21 billion consisted of legislative and cost-saving actions supported by recommendations by the OIG.
• In FY 2010, the OIG also barred 3,340 individuals and entities from participating in federal healthcare programs.
• More than 370 civil actions, including False Claims Act lawsuits, were filed against individuals and entities.
