A physician from Destin, Fla., has been convicted of healthcare fraud and illegally dispensing prescription drugs, according to a Daily News report.
Robert Bourlier, MD, was convicted on 126 counts of illegally prescribing drugs, which eventually led to the death of two patients. He was also charged with 17 counts of healthcare fraud.
Dr. Bourlier will be sentenced sometime after August 12. He faces 20 years to life in prison for dispensing drugs resulting in death, a maximum of 10 years for each healthcare fraud conviction and 20 years for each count of illegally dispensing prescription drugs.
