AmkaiSolutions, a provider of electronic solutions to surgical hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and practices and clinics, has announced development for HIPAA 5010 transaction standards have been completed and are currently being tested with clearinghouses and payors.
The company also announced that AmkaiOffice version 3.9 will be available for rollout to clients starting in August, according to a news release. The early release is intended to help users test, validate and be fully operational with AmkaiOffice by Jan. 1, 2012, when the federal mandate takes effect.
"It was very important to have the new 5010 transactions standards available to our clients with an early release, so they had the opportunity to implement, test and iron out any issues well in advance of the deadline," said Joe Macies, AmkaiSolutions president and CEO, in the release. "Our physicians, clinics, ASCs and surgical hospitals view this as critical to their operations."
The 5010 mandate requires providers, health plans and clearinghouses to upgrade from the current HIPAA 4010A1 transaction standards to the new 5010 standards. The 5010 standard requires that certain healthcare administrative transactions are conducted electronically. This includes claims, remittance, eligibility, and claims status requests and responses.
