Joint Commission Launches Hand Hygiene Tool

The Joint Commission has launched a tool to aid healthcare providers in better complying with hand hygiene protocols, according to a news release.

The interactive tool for improved hand hygiene compliance is the first in a series of solutions for The Joint Commission-launched Targeted Solution Tool. In using the tool, healthcare providers are able to measure actual hand hygiene compliance and identify problem areas.

The tool also provides the foundation and framework of an improvement method that, if implemented well, could improve an organization's hand hygiene compliance and reduce the frequency of infections.

Healthcare providers are able to customize the tool to help better address hand hygiene compliance and view guidelines on how to select staff members who would be charged with observing hand hygiene compliance of their peers.
