Study: Web-Based Program Eases Burdens of Chronic Pain

A new study finds that an online, self-paced chronic pain management program reduces the condition's physical and psychological burdens, according to a release by Goalistics.

The interactive program, developed by Goalistics, uses cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal models of chronic pain management in four interactive learning centers. Based on an in-depth assessment of the user, the company creates a set of customized program recommendations to help the user think more constructively, manage emotions, pursue goals and become more active.

The study, presented at the 30th Annual American Pain Society meeting, found that program users reported a statistically significant decrease in interference of pain with work, social activities, household chores and sleep, and they experienced a significant reduction in stress, anxiety and depression.
