Study: Pediatric Pain Rehab Boosts Self-Management Skills

Children undergoing pain rehabilitation may develop heightened abilities to self-manage their pain, according to a study reported in News-Medical.

The Pain study, which examined 157 children from rehabilitation pretreatment to post-treatment, found that 41.7 percent showed an awareness of personal responsibility for pain management as defined by the adult Pain Stages of Change Questionnaire. Another 25 percent showed an active interest in learning self-management strategies.
