Spinal Modulation System Receives CE Mark for the Management of Chronic Intractable Pain

Spinal Modulation, an international medical device company, has received the CE Mark for its Spinal Modulation Neurostimulator System for the management of chronic intractable pain, according to a news release.

The system uses low-level electrical signals to change the neural structures of primary sensory neurons located within the dorsal root ganglion, which have been shown to influence development and maintenance of chronic pain conditions. Stimulating the dorsal root ganglion is a new technique in neuromodulation.

Liong Liem, MD, and Paul Verrills, MD, will present the initial results of a multicenter prospective clinical trial that assesses the management of chronic pain through stimulation of the dorsal root ganglion at the North American Neuromodulation Society meeting that begins today.
