Average compensation
Compensation for anesthesia pain management physicians was higher than compensation for nonanesthesia pain management physicians — by more than $100,000 on average.

Anesthesia: $502,024
Nonanesthesia: $371,481

Based on group type
Anesthesia pain management physicians working in single-specialty groups made more than $50,000 less than those working in multi-specialty groups. The opposite was true for nonanesthesia physicians, who made more than $80,000 more working in a single-specialty group. The difference between anesthesia and nonanesthesia physicians was greater in multi-specialty groups — more than $200,000 on average.
