Ohio Pain Clinics Find New Physician After DEA Raid Removes Two

The arrival of a new physician will allow two Southern Ohio pain clinics to stay open after a raid by Drug Enforcement Administration agents and the suspension of DEA certificates of two former physicians at the clinics, according to a report by the Portsmouth Daily Times.

Sunil Nayyar, MD, is the new physician at Portsmouth Medical Solutions and Southern Ohio Complete Pain Management, following the exits of Mark Fantazuzzi, MD, and Michael Dawes, MD, after a DEA raid on May 17. The clinics appeared to be closed after the raid but were open again by June 4.

According to the Ohio State Medical Board, Dr. Nayyar, an internist, has an MD degree from Saba University School of Medicine in the Netherlands Antilles and received his Ohio medical license in Jan. 2011.
