Cigna, the state of Wyoming and Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital have partnered to launch a back pain management program in conjunction with Wyoming Neuroscience & Spine Institute.
The program, called Pathway to Improved Health for Back Pain, provides state employees, their families and covered retirees with access to back pain treatment that complements their physician's care. The program relies on evidence-based guidelines to support back pain management.
Under the program, Cigna customers with spine health needs will be directed to Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation within one business day of calling for the appointment.
Cigna hopes the quick access appointments will reduce urgent or emergency room care services and reduce out-of-pocket expenses for members. An educational component of the program provides guidance for improved self-management of back pain.
