Anesthesiologist Arnold H. Aaron, MD, listed as owner of three Florida pain clinics raided and shut down on Wednesday, was not one of those arrested because he was in Michigan, according to a report by the Sun Sentinel.
An official in the Florida Attorney General's Office said Dr. Aaron, age 75, was getting a medical procedure in Michigan. The raided facilities, identified as "pill mills" that were illegally distributing painkillers, are Total Medical Express clinics in Margate, Boca Raton and Palm Springs, Fla.
The Attorney General's Office and the Palm Beach County Prescription Drug Diversion Task Force conducted the raids after a yearlong investigation called Operation "Blue Spoon." They made five arrests of clinic staff on charges ranging from operating an unlicensed pain clinic to trafficking in contraband prescription drugs.
