The American Pain Society announced its support for the CDC's call to better manage prescription drug abuse while maintaining treatment for those who need it, according to an APS news release.
In its recent report, the CDC cited 2009 guidelines from APS and the American Academy of Pain Medicine that stated opioid prescribers should have clinical skills and knowledge in opioid treatment as well as the management of drug abuse risk and addiction.
