Nashville-based Saint Thomas Health is transitioning total joint replacement procedures from its three main hospitals to a portion of its 17 ASCs in the region, the Nashville Post reports.
Here's what you should know:
1. Saint Thomas Health, Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee partnered to make the change.
2. The partnership to start performing total joint replacements in the ASC space in 2019.
3. The surgery centers that will take on total joint replacement procedures have not yet been selected.
4. Saint Thomas Midtown and West President and CEO Fahad Tahir said, "The distinctive program continues Saint Thomas Health's efforts to serve as an innovative, early-adopter bringing best practices in the country to Middle Tennessee communities, with a disciplined focus on convenient access, quality and affordability."
