Bradenton, Fla.-based Coastal Orthopedics has added two surgical robots — Cori by Smith + Nephew and Velys by DePuy Synthes — to its ASC. The new robots will join the Stryker Mako robot the ASC currently uses for knee replacement procedures.
The Cori robot uses image-free smart mapping to enable the creation of 3D models of a joint during surgery, while the Velys robot increases efficiency in the operating room and optimizes overall patient outcomes, according to a July 31 news release from Coastal Orthopedics.
Robotic-assisted surgeries often result in less blood loss and faster recovery times for patients, the release said.
