Ophthalmologist John T. Thompson, MD, has been named president of the American Society of Retina Specialists, according to a Baltimore Citybizlist report.
Dr. Thompson co-founded and is a partner with Retina Specialists, which has offices in Towson and Frederick, Md. He is also a member of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center's ophthalmology department.
As president of ASRS, his responsibilities during his two-year term will include directing the educational, advocacy and philanthropic missions of the society, according to the report.
Dr. Thompson received his MD from Johns Hopkins Medical School, according to his bio. He completed an ophthalmology residency at Wilmer Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, his surgical retina specialty training the Wilmer Institute and his medical retina training at the Retinal Vascular Center of the Wilmer Institute.
