Georgia Eye Partners debuts minimally invasive glaucoma procedure

Atlanta-based Georgia Eye Partners has become the first in the state to debut the iTrack Advance Canaloplasty Device, a minimally invasive glaucoma surgical device used to reduce intraocular pressure.

The first procedure was performed by eye surgeon Parul Khator, MD. The device offers a more efficient glaucoma procedure that can control eye pressure while lessening medication burdens, according to an Aug. 29 press release.

Canaloplasty was first introduced in the U.S. in 2008 and uses a unique approach "akin to angioplasty" to treat blockages in all parts of the eye’s drainage channel, the release said.
