Patients who have cataract surgery to improve their vision are likely to live longer than those who do not have the procedures, according to a study published in Ophthalmology. Australian researchers found a 40 percent lower long-term mortality risk for patient post-cataract removal surgery. They looked at 354 people and made adjustments for age, gender and mortality risk factors.
