The AAO declared that it is joining with the Choosing Wisely Campaign and as a part of the campaign five regular ophthalmological tests and treatments have been identified as items that should be subject to patient and doctor discussion, according to a Newswise report.
The five tests and treatments include preoperative medical tests, punctual plugs for dry eyes, antibiotics for eye injections, antibiotics for pink eye and imaging tests.
The AAO and 16 other medical organizations, representing about 350,000 healthcare professionals, have joined the Choosing Wisely Campaign. Twenty-five specialties have released lists through the campaign.
